Solar Power for Industrial Water Treatment

Solar Technology for Industrial Water Treatment Plants and small-scale Desalination Plants is a proven safe process.

Solar Energy Technology

An equivalent MW Utility Solar Plant built with the Power Generated from the Solar Plant can be used during the daytime, this will reduce the Process and Costs as follows:

  • Running Costs for up to 10 hours per day
  • Costs of Fossil Fuel
  • Maintenance of the Generation Plant can be undertaken by EnviroTech
  • Fossil Burning Plant will run in Minimum Mode during the day time
  • Reduction in Pollution
  • The Cost Savings in the usage of Fossil Fuel will contribute the servicing of any Loan Repayment required to secure the Contract and Run the Utility Solar Plant.
  • Further there will be Carbon footprint reduction of the order >1,000 gCO2eq / kWh for 10 hours per day a cradle to grave calculation can be made using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) which is accredited to ISO 1400 to determine the Carbon Credit that can be traded as Carbon Set off, therefore further contribution the project financing loan.
  • The Carbon Footprint for a Solar plant is about 35gCO2eq / kWh

Existing Power Plant owners may be offered an Equity Partnership in a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) providing the new build of a Utility Solar Plant which will in turn sell the generated kWh to a Distribution Utility Company through the Fossil Fuel Power Station on a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

There can be many variations to this proposal and there is a need to undertake Site Surveys and Feasibility Studies such as:

Solar Mini Grids for Water Treatment

Rural Electrification Solution (RES) well documents and fall under the category of SHS / Nano / Pico / Mini / Micro Grids. This RES concept can be used in the Urban Area just as well as the Rural Areas.

For example, An Average Solar Irradiation for Africa 5.7 kWh / m2 / day with the equator regions of the continent has the highest irradiation potential. Nearly all large cities and urban areas in Africa are suited to the following strategy:

  • The locality must be zoned and appointments of various District Councils, NGO`s and Private Developers in that zone area made to oversee the Program of Electrification with Solar Panels. These supervising organizations will appoint warrants / overseers to carry out the program for that zone.
  • The idea is to establish an embryonic infrastructure the supervising organization for each zone will identify public areas like Car Parks at Supermarkets, Public Places, Hospitals, Libraries, Schools etc
  • Landfill Sites

As the previous example, at these identified places a Grid is installed, and the Smart Meters measure the kWh placed on the Main Grid. The SPV the receives payment in the form of a PPA to so it can pay the Loan Repayments and Finance Costs for the Design, Supply, Installation of Solar Panels and Associated Equipment including Operation and Maintenance.
